Following too closely... It happened in Oklahoma

I want to tell you two stories about traffic stops in our wonderful state of Oklahoma.

The first involves the attitude of being in a position of privilege. The wife of an Oklahoma State Senator was pulled over by police on I-44:

About 2:45 p.m. Sunday, an officer saw a Jeep entering the westbound lanes of Interstate 44 at a high rate of speed and tailgating two other vehicles. The driver continued driving another mile after the officer turned on his emergency lights, eventually pulling from the highway at May Avenue and stopping in the parking lot of a business, the report states.

When the officer approached the window, the driver was texting and ignored him. When he eventually tapped on the window, she held up her index finger signaling him to wait. She began recording the incident, then rolled down her window, according to the police report.

The driver was argumentative when the officer tried to speak with her, and she turned her music up "to full volume" when he ran her license. When it came back as suspended, he returned to the vehicle a second time.

The third time the officer asked her to turn down the music, she did and told him, "'I'm sorry, my music was too loud to hear you,'" the police report states.

The driver refused to step out of the car when she was told she was under arrest, instead attempting to make a phone call. The officer took her phone and was about to pull her from the vehicle when she told him, "'Keep your hands off of me. I'll get out of the car and then you can handcuff me,'" according to the report.

It turns out she was driving with a suspended license. She was charged with speeding, following too closely, and obstructing an officer.

Please see below the orange jumpsuit for the other story.
